In 1965, architect and product designer Gae Aulenti designed the world-famous Pipistrello table lamp. Gae Aulenti is known for many of her architectural masterpieces, such as the renovation of the Musée d'Orsay in Paris and the restoration of the Palazzo Grassi in Venice. She has also collaborated with Artemide, Louis Vuitton and, of course, Martinelli Luce.
The lampshade is reminiscent of a bat's wing, hence the name "Pipistrello", which means bat in Italian. Like many post-war designers, Gae Aulenti is fascinated by the avant-garde scene, which is also reflected in her experimental lamp designs.
The base of the lamp is made of lacquered metal, a stainless steel telescope that helps you adjust the height of the lamp, and an opal white methacrylate lampshade. The on/off switch is located on the lamp's cable.
