PH 5 500
This classic and highly sought-after pendant lamp was designed by the architect Poul Henningsen and manufactured by the Danish lighting company Louis Poulsen. A collaboration that continued throughout Henningsen’s life.
Having already developed his three-canopy system in the late 1920s, he began to develop this particular system. As electric lighting evolved, its role in providing glare-free light was called into question. Further development resulted in the Pendler being fitted with a revolutionary five-shade system, which made the lamp completely glare-free.
PH 5 lamps in a wide range of colours
The PH 5 500 model was launched in 1958 and is ideal as a dining table lamp. This is a place where you’ll often find a pendant light – it’s a real classic in many Danish homes. The PH 5 300 (formerly the PH 5 Mini) was launched in 2017. The model measures 30 cm, whilst the original version has a diameter of 50 cm.
To mark the 60th anniversary of Poul Henningsen’s legendary five-shade system, the company launched a new coloured version. Whilst the classic lamp is available in white, blue and red, the new versions come in shades from the pink, blue and green colour palettes – as well as many others.

pH 5 300
In 2017, a smaller version of the original pendant light was then launched. Whilst the original version measures 50 cm in diameter, the 300 Edition (formerly the Mini) has a diameter of just 30 cm. This means that, since then, you’ve also been able to enjoy the amazing lighting qualities of these pendant lights in a smaller version.
The Ph 5 300 pendant lights are ideal for use above a kitchen table – use several in the same shade or mix and match colours, and enjoy their well-thought-out design and glare-free light. The lamps are also ideal for the hallway or a corridor.
