Stylishness and bright colours in a wonderful combination: See the Cellu series from Normann Copenhagen here
The Cellu lamp collection is a modern interpretation of the classic folded paper lampshade. The design is brought into contemporary aesthetics with its polypropylene shade for enhanced durability, resting on a powder-coated aluminium column and a powder-coated steel base, both designed with a distinctive, robust look.
The brain behind the beautiful collection is the young Danish designer Simon Legald, who graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts School of Design in summer 2012. His work consists of both small and large products, often created at the intersection of craft and industry. In his designs, Simon Legald uses techniques that are necessary in design and are part of the expression, emphasising them visually rather than hiding them. During Legalds' multi-year collaboration with Normann Copenhagen, many of his innovative ideas and design concepts have been realised in beautiful creations.
Particularly characteristic of the Cellu range is its successful combination of classic and modern design elements. The shade indicates the design's clear references to the iconic pleated lampshades. An element that has been retained, while the design as a whole was infused with a contemporary and updated aesthetic that caters to modern interiors. The design is particularly characterised by its striking proportions and classic references. The base has a distinctive, enlarged look that is further emphasised by the eye-catching and playful colour combinations of the powder coating. Thus, Cellu is an evident union of old and new, beautifully combined in a design that draws references to both classic craftsmanship and new, modern design principles.
The Cellu series consists of both table and floor lamps in several beautiful colour combinations.
