Genuine Danish design classics from Vipps home accessories are now available at Lampmasters.co.uk
It all started in 1939 when Holger Nielsen's wife wanted a smart waste storage solution for her newly opened hairdressing salon. It all started in 1932 when Holger Nielsen won a car, which he later traded for a metal press so he could make things for his own home. Being the skilled blacksmith that he was, Holger honoured his wife's wish by creating what would later become an icon of Danish design: the Vipp pedal bin. A special feature of this bucket was its unique mechanism that allowed it to be opened and closed with the foot. This was the start of a real design adventure that would later include furniture, kitchens and an entire hotel concept. Vipp is still a family-owned, independent Danish design company run by Holger's daughter, Jette Egelund, her two children Kasper and Sofie and 55 employees in Copenhagen.
The classic pedal bin is still manufactured today but has grown over the last eighty years to include a myriad of different versions, sizes and several colour variants. While the pedal bin is still Vipp's signature product, the Danish brand also releases a host of other home accessories, all characterised by the same stringent design: the clean lines, simple Nordic shapes and neutral colour scheme all help to define Vipp's unique design language.
The many beautiful designs are now also available at Lampemesteren. Here you can explore Vipp's design adventure and discover their unique approach to design that marvellously combines practicality and aesthetics. Almost all products come in the exact same range of colours, making them easy to mix and match.
